Welcome to the Hive 💛🐝
A safe space where children are seen, heard, and supported to reach their full potential.
At Bumble Bea Occupational Therapy, your child’s emotional safety comes first. We listen first. We move at your child’s pace. There is no pressure to perform, no rushing, and no forcing — ever. We believe in connection before goals, because when children feel safe, understood, and respected, confidence and participation naturally grow.
We provide therapy in the places where children feel most comfortable and supported. Our services are primarily delivered through outreach visits within your child’s natural environments, including the home, school, childcare, or kindergarten. This allows us to support meaningful participation in everyday life, right where it matters most. We also offer limited clinic-based sessions at our Berwick (Minta Estate) location.
Our practice specialises in supporting neurodivergent children aged 2-12 years, including autistic children, ADHDers, and children with intellectual disabilities. We are proudly neuro-affirming and strengths-based, and we use identity-first language in recognition that many people within the neurodivergent community prefer this terminology. Identity-first language reflects neurodivergence as an integral and valued part of a person’s identity — not something to be fixed or separated from who they are.
At BBOT, every child is welcomed exactly as they are. The Hive is a safe place to land — where little bees are deeply respected, genuinely cared for, and supported to grow with progress without pressure, in their own time. 💛🐝

We primarily support children funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), including those who are self-managed or plan-managed. The NDIS is a national funding scheme that provides support for people with disability in Australia.
We also welcome private clients, including families who are self-funded, accessing Medicare rebates, or using private health insurance. If your child is not currently accessing the NDIS and you would like to discuss eligibility or explore private therapy options, please contact us — we’re happy to guide you through the process and answer any questions.
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy supports children to participate in the everyday activities that are meaningful to them, including play, learning, and self-care.
At BBOT, we support children to build the skills they need to engage in the activities they want and need to do, particularly those they find challenging.
We provide a safe, nurturing space where children feel seen, supported, and understood. By building strong, trusting relationships, we honour each child’s strengths and differences, supporting confidence and growth at a pace that feels right for them.
Together with families, we work as a team to set goals that are meaningful, realistic, and relevant to your child’s everyday life — supporting progress without pressure, and growth that feels safe and empowering.

Is Occupational Therapy right for your child?
If you’re noticing your child finding some everyday tasks tricky, you’re not alone — and support is available. Occupational therapy can help children develop the skills they need to participate more comfortably and confidently in daily life, including:
Fine motor skills
Using hands and fingers for tasks such as drawing, writing, cutting, buttoning, and using cutlery.
Emotional Regulation
Recognising, understanding, and managing big feelings, as well as coping with changes, transitions, and everyday challenges.
Sensory Processing
How a child experiences, interprets, and responds to sensory information from their body and environment. Differences in sensory processing can impact attention, regulation, comfort, and participation in daily activities.
Social Interaction
Building skills to connect with peers and adults, including turn-taking, shared play, understanding social cues, and maintaining relationships.
Executive Functioning
Supporting skills such as planning, organisation, attention, working memory, flexibility, and following multi-step instructions.
Gross Motor Skills
Using the body for movement, balance, coordination, posture, and strength during play and everyday activities.
Self-Advocacy
Expressing needs, preferences, and boundaries, asking for help, and communicating what feels comfortable or uncomfortable.
Self-Care & Independence
Building skills for everyday routines such as dressing, toileting, feeding, hygiene, and increasing independence across daily tasks.
School Readiness
Developing the foundational skills needed to participate in classroom routines, play-based learning, group activities, and transitions.
Executive Functioning
Supporting skills such as planning, organisation, attention, working memory, flexibility, and following multi-step instructions.
Early intervention is especially valuable in the early years, as children aged 0–6 experience rapid growth and their brains are highly responsive to learning, relationships, and new experiences.
Accessing occupational therapy during this important window can support children to build strong foundations, develop confidence, and grow in ways that feel safe, supportive, and meaningful — helping each little bee thrive in their own time.
